What this is
ఈరోజు · Today shows, in one place, what matters today for your district in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh: weather and disaster alerts, the weather, today’s panchangam, and the latest news in Telugu and English. It is part of Open Telugu, with Telugu History and Pustaka Nidhi.
There are two pages, switched with Today | News at the top.
Home page
- Choose your district the first time. Alerts, weather and the panchangam then follow your district. Change it any time with 📍 at the top (on a phone, under ☰).
- Each box is a tile. The row of small buttons at the top gives the gist of each (an alert count, the temperature, today’s tithi); tap one to jump to its tile.
- ▾ / ▸ on a tile folds it down to one line, or opens it again.
- Customise lets you:
- + Add a tile, or remove one with ✕;
- move tiles with ↑ ↓;
- choose a tile’s size (Small, Medium, Large), and which news column a News tile shows;
- choose Sources: untick news outlets you do not want;
- Copy link to this setup and open it on another phone or computer to get the same page there.
The tiles:
- Alerts: warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the state disaster management authorities, through the national SACHET system. Your district’s alerts come first, then the rest of the state. Andhra Pradesh alerts are shown in Telugu as issued; IMD’s district nowcasts are in English. Earthquakes that may be felt in your state, from the National Center for Seismology (NCS), are shown for a day, with the districts in reach (a rough rule by magnitude and distance).
- Weather: now and the next three days, from Open-Meteo, for your district headquarters. PM2.5 is a measure of fine dust in the air, shown with India’s air quality bands (Good, Satisfactory, Moderate, Poor, Very poor, Severe). Where a pollution control board station is within 25 km of your district’s centre (around Hyderabad, and in Andhra Pradesh’s cities), PM2.5 is that station’s measurement, through the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB); elsewhere it is Open-Meteo’s estimate from a model, and the tile says which. The bands are for 24-hour averages, so treat a reading as a guide.
- Panchangam: see below.
- Mandi prices: today’s prices of vegetables and crops at your district’s markets, from Agmarknet (Ministry of Agriculture) through data.gov.in, updated every three hours. Each line is the price most trades were made at (the modal price), per kg, the middle of your district’s markets when several report it, with their range. Markets report through the day, so the morning list is short.
- Your district: stories from the last two days that name your district: from the district pages of Eenadu, Andhra Jyothy and Namasthe Telangana (they still use the old districts, so a story from old Mahabubnagar counts for Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Gadwal and Narayanpet too), city pages, and English headlines. Some districts get only a few stories, and Hyderabad’s suburbs are mostly filed under Hyderabad; when there are fewer than five, your state’s top stories follow.
- District notices: the notices in the recruitment section of your district’s own website (59 of the 61 districts have one): district posts, and also admissions and merit lists of district institutions, as the site lists them. Open ones only. Read every six hours.
- Job notifications: the newest recruitment notifications of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commissions (TGPSC, APPSC), your state’s first, each linked to the notification itself. TGPSC’s show the last day to apply; APPSC’s show the date of the notification (its closing date is inside it). Your state’s commission comes first: its open notifications (one without a closing date counts as open for 45 days after it is published), then Recently closed. The other state’s open notifications are folded away under its name, since its posts are mostly for its own local candidates. Who can apply, and how, is always in the notification.
- Rupee rates: rupees for one US dollar, UAE dirham, Saudi riyal, pound, euro and other currencies Telugu families abroad earn in: the European Central Bank’s daily reference rates (through Frankfurter), updated each working day. The Gulf currencies are fixed to the dollar, so they are worked out from its rate. Banks and money transfer services give somewhat less. Not shown unless you add it.
- Temple news: the last 7 days’ news of Tirumala from TTD itself (sevas and festivals, darshan numbers, donations), and of other temples from the devotional pages of Vaartha and Namasthe Telangana. The temples’ own websites have no news we can read yet. Where TTD writes a headline in both languages, you see the half in the site’s language.
- Government: the Telangana government’s press releases from the last 7 days. (Andhra Pradesh’s portal has no feed yet.) Not shown unless you add it.
- News: one news column (Top stories, Telugu, Telangana & AP, or India).
- On this day: what teluguhistory.org dates to today’s day and month: births, deaths and events, each a sentence from a page there (with its sources), linked to that page. Only dates from 1752 on: older sources mostly use the old calendar, so their anniversaries would be off by ten or eleven days. Some days have nothing yet; the tile then shows the next day that does. Below, Around the world: a few of English Wikipedia’s selected anniversaries for the day (in English, those about India first), credited to Wikipedia and linked.
- From Telugu history: a person or monument each day from teluguhistory.org.
News
Four columns, side by side on a computer, as tabs on a phone:
- Top stories: the stories reported by the most outlets in the last 24 hours, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh first, newer first. Film, lifestyle and astrology count for less; horoscopes are left out.
- Telugu: Telugu-language outlets.
- Telangana & AP: the two states’ news in English.
- India: national news.
When several outlets report the same story it appears once, with the first report’s headline and Also: links to the others. New headlines do not push the list while you read: a “5 new ↑” button shows them when you are ready. A line marks what came in since your last visit.
All / Telangana / Andhra Pradesh filters the regional columns. Customise shows, hides and reorders columns, hides cinema, astrology and lifestyle, makes the list compact, shows summaries, and chooses Sources.
Headlines link to the publisher’s own page; this site does not copy articles.
Panchangam
The panchangam is calculated on your phone or computer for your district, from the positions of the Sun and the Moon (standard astronomical formulas; Lahiri ayanamsa; months counted from new moon to new moon, as in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh). So it works without internet.
It shows the samvatsaram, masam and paksham; tithi, nakshatram, yogam and karanam with the times they end; sunrise and sunset; moonrise and moonset (about once a month the Moon does not rise, or does not set, on a given day); Rahu kalam, Yamagandam, Gulika kalam, Durmuhurtham and Varjyam (times to avoid); Brahma muhurtham, Abhijit muhurtham (not observed on Wednesdays) and Amrita kalam (good times; varjyam and amrita kalam follow the nakshatram, so they can fall after midnight, before the next sunrise); and the next grahanam that can be seen here, from NASA’s eclipse tables.
Times can differ from a printed panchangam by a few minutes. Varjyam and Amrit kalam are not shown yet. For a ceremony, follow your family priest or a published panchangam.
Calendar
The Calendar shows a month at a time: each day’s tithi, festivals, your state’s government holidays and eclipses. Tap a day for its full panchangam. Telangana / Andhra Pradesh switches the state; the panchangam is calculated for your district when it is in that state.
- Government holidays come from each state’s official holiday order for the year, and the calendar names the order. Ramzan, Bakrid and other dates that depend on the moon may change.
- Festivals are calculated from the traditional rules (the tithi at the right time of day, in the right month). The rules were checked against both states’ 2026 holiday lists and agree on every listed festival. Where a festival is also a government holiday, the government’s date is shown. Other festivals are marked calculated and can differ by a day from your panchangam.
- Festival dates are calculated for any year; holiday lists are added each year when the governments publish them.
Tools
The Tools page has everyday calculations. They all run on your phone and work offline.
- Land units: acre, gunta, cent, ankanam, square yard, square foot, hectare, in the Telangana (acres–guntas) and Andhra Pradesh (acres–cents) styles.
- Telugu date and birth tithi: the Telugu year, month, tithi and nakshatra of any date, and the day your birth tithi falls on this year and next.
- Festivals in your calendar: add festivals, government holidays and eclipses to Google, iPhone or Outlook Calendar. Each year’s dates arrive on their own.
Install as an app
The site installs like an app, opens without the browser around it, and keeps working offline.
- Android (Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet): tap Install app (on a phone, under ☰), or the browser menu → Install app / Add to Home screen.
- iPhone and iPad: in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen.
- Computer (Chrome, Edge): the install icon at the right of the address bar, or Install app on the page.
Offline, the app opens with the news, tiles and settings you last had, and says how old the news is. The panchangam is always calculated fresh. Articles open on the publishers’ sites, so they need internet.
Theme and language
The theme button switches System → Light → Dark: System follows your phone’s own setting. EN | తెలుగు switches the language of the page; the news itself stays in the language the outlet wrote it in.
Privacy
There is no account and no tracking. Your district, tiles, columns, theme and hidden outlets are kept only in your browser on this device. A setup link contains your settings, so share it only if you want to. Clearing the browser’s data for this site resets everything. The server keeps short technical logs to keep the site running.
